Survey Line e: “Mile Between Sections 15 & 22”
Original Land Survey, Twp 7N, Rge 9E, 15-22 W, 21-22 N
After traversing this mile of land across what is today the very heart of the UW-Madison campus – following the line of modern Linden Street from where the WARF building now stands to a point near the southeast corner of modern Bascom Hall – Deputy Surveyor Orson Lyon described the land as follows: “Land rolling & 2d rate Timber Burr & Black Oak. Undergrowth Oak & Grass.” [sic.]
