Picnic Point Beach View

This quiet stretch of shoreline where the sands of the Picnic Point beach gently arc north and west toward Frautschi Point probably isn’t noticed by many people, but it is one of the loveliest places in the Preserve.

When members of the Friends of the Lakeshore Nature Preserve were asked to name their favorite places, Blair Mathews—a longtime user of the Preserve who has done a great deal to foster its protection and stewardship over the years—chose the view from this spot.

I feel that the sandy cove and shore line on the north side of Picnic Point with the view toward Second [Frautschi] Point near the old beach house is a peaceful place.

He’s right. It is.
