April 7 – Visit the Lakeshore Nature Preserve: A Destination for Exploration

In Partnership with the UW 175th Anniversary Community Open House

Sunday April 7 from Noon – 4pm, explore the Preserve with hands-on interactive learning stations for all ages. Learn about campus sustainability and the new Frautschi Center. Enjoy a warm fire and hot chocolate or hot cider at fire circle #2!

EXPLORATION STATIONS:

  • Trees with the Friends of the Lakeshore Nature Preserve
  • Insects with the Insect Ambassadors, a graduate student-led organization with the Department of Entomology
  • Birds with opportunities to use binoculars and a spotting scope with students from Audubon Society UW-Madison
  • Soils with the UW Soils Club
  • Geology of the rock wall at Picnic Point with WGNHS, DNR, and UW staff
  • Indian burial mounds and the people who built them with Brett Hoffman from the WI Historical Society
