Alcohol is not allowed in the Lakeshore Nature Preserve with the exception of university sponsored events with an approved Alcohol Beverage Service Permit. Online training is not required before applying for an alcohol beverage service permit. However, applicants are encouraged to read the campus alcohol policy. Responsible Employees and Approving Sponsors are required to read the policy.
Apply for a permit at least two weeks in advance of your event to allow sufficient time for Responsible Employees, the Approving Sponsor, and UHS staff to review and advance the application, and/or to make necessary changes.

IMPORTANT: Use the information below to complete an Alcohol Beverage Service Permit Application for a Lakeshore Nature Preserve event.
- Under Event Details – Event location, type: “Lakeshore Nature Preserve, fire circle” plus the number of the fire circle you have reserved (for fire circle reservations contact Campus Event Services).
- Under Sponsorship Approval – Name, title and unit of sponsor authorized to approve permit, type: “Margaret Tennessen, Deputy Associate Vice Chancellor, Facilities Planning & Management”.
- Under UW-Madison (wisc.edu) email address of approving sponsor, type: “margaret.tennessen@wisc.edu”.
